CULLIES2DULLIES
For more than a month, Matt (our personal trainer), had us follow a program to get u ready for our Cullies2Dullies trip. He had us gradually work our way up our fitness ladder until where we were supposed to be. While conditioning, I was concerned that I was not ready for the trip because I had a couple of things pop up that stopped me from attending every mornings conditioning and I didn’t attend any of the longer runs that the others did on Saturdays. I didn’t feel prepared and fit enough for the trip but I signed up for the 10km regardless of what my soul and flesh told me because I had such a longing in my heart to experience a breakthrough and encounter God while pushing through the pain.
Going into the trip, things started off a bit rocky. I was faced with having to choose between going on the trip and being present at an important day for my son. I tried everything that I could to make both happen, but I couldn’t figure something out on my own. I then accepted that I wouldn’t go on the trip, but then God showed me His glory and made the impossible, possible.
Cullies2Dullies was the first time I ran apart from morning conditioning. Before starting conditioning I have never run before and prior to the trip I barely had 8km next to my name. I did the 10km on C2D and to my surprise, it was easier for me than some morning conditions. We were faced with some challenges like the burning heat and rocky road that made it difficult to run, but I really surprised myself on the run.
At first, I started off running with Izaan and Nicola and we really went fast and hard, but later I started running with Thandeka where we went a bit slower. While taking things easy, it gave us a chance to have some holy conversations and that really helped. We got a chance to share our background concerning conditioning and reflect on that. Our conversation reminded me of what Ps Christi said a while back in prayer and it was really a sobering moment.
